Study Abroad at the Universidad de las Americas in Mexico

Spend six weeks learning about the history, culture, and business practices of México.
Dates
May 18 (departure) through June 29 (return to U.S.)
Course
Students will receive between 3 and 6 Business credit hours at the junior level and/or 3 Spanish credit hours. Instruction of Business in Mexico course (3 credits) is in English for those students without proficiency in Spanish and in Spanish for those who have a demonstrated proficiency. Those students receiving instruction in English will also register for a Spanish course (3 credits). Those students receiving instruction in Spanish will participate in an internship experience at a small to medium-sized business (3 credits).
Financial Information
- Program Cost: Approximately $3000 plus airfare ($700 estimate) includes: tuition, housing and 2 meals per day (breakfast and lunch) Monday-Thursday.
- Students stay in on-campus dorms at the Universidad de las Americas in Puebla (UDLA) - washing and drying is free.
- It is recommended that students use ATM and credit cards for purchases and exchanges while in Mexico.
Payment Schedule
Non-refundable payment of $350.00 is due March 30, 2007. The balance is due May 3, 2007.
Cancellations
After March 31, 2007, students who cancel their participation in this program will be required to pay a cancellation fee of $100.

Passport
All participants are required to have a valid U.S. passport. Students are responsible for applying for and obtaining their own passport. For application information, please consult http:/travel.state.gov for more information.
Health Insurance
Travel health insurance is mandatory. HTH will be the provider. For more information, please consult their website at http://www.hthstudents.com/.
Flight Arrangements
Students are responsible for arranging their own flights to and from Puebla. There is an airport in Mexico City (MEX) and Puebla (PBC). If students are interested in booking as a group to travel together, an advisor can assist in this process.
Excursions
UDLA provides a number of excursion opportunities, including trips to major archaeological sites. Students should also plan for their own excursions.
