The Campus
Kent State University, with over 20,000 students at its Kent Campus, has an additional 8,000 students at its seven regional campuses. Graduate enrollment numbers nearly 5,000 students. The campus includes over 2,500 acres of gently sloping hills with many wooded areas including the Andrew Paton Airport and the eighteen-hole Kent State University Meadowview Golf Course. The campus features many of the older traditional style buildings on the tree-covered front campus, while other portions of the campus include expansive, attractively landscaped "green spaces" to compliment the more modern new facilities. There are more than 105 buildings on campus.
The University Libraries constitute the largest public university library system in northeastern Ohio and ranks 85th in size of collections among all major academic libraries in the United States.
The Region
The Kent campus is located in the city of Kent in northeastern Ohio. Kent is easily accessible to and from Akron, Canton, Cleveland, and Youngstown. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is a 90-minute drive from the campus. The surrounding cities offer a wide array of entertainment possibilities from comedy clubs and rock concerts to art galleries, symphony orchestras and professional sports.
The region, cited by the U.S. Department of Commerce as the leading industrial center in the United States, holds about 45 percent of the state's population. In addition, within a 500-mile radius of Kent is approximately 56 percent of the U.S and Canadian population and 350 corporate headquarters of the Fortune 500. Despite its proximity to metropolitan areas and large cities, Kent, with a population of 30,000, has maintained a relaxed and residential atmosphere. It rests on the banks of the Cuyahoga River and is surrounded by extensive farmland and small lakes.
The MBA Student Body
Kent actively seeks to achieve an MBA student body which is widely representative of the world in which the student will be a leader-manager. Each class offers a diverse and rich mixture of men and women, minorities, and students from throughout the U.S, and many nations of the world. Student interaction within this environment becomes an important part of the Kent MBA experience.
Student Organizations and Activities
Students are provided with a number of opportunities for professional growth and development, many of which revolve around student groups and activities. The Graduate Management Association (GMA) is a student organization for all students in the Graduate School of Management. Its purpose is to promote personal and professional development of all its members through social activities, guest speakers, and seminars. GMA also strives to enhance employment opportunities of its members by sponsoring a resume book and special events along with the Career Services Center.
Black Graduate Student Association
The purpose of the Black Graduate Student Association is to serve as a medium for the expression of concerns that are unique to black graduate students. All black graduate students attending the University are automatically members.
Graduate Student Senate
The Graduate Student Senate consists of one elected representative from each graduate program. The purpose of the senate is to encourage the formation and expression of issues concerning graduate students.
Beta Gamma Sigma
Beta Gamma Sigma is the national honorary association for business students. The Graduate School of Management has an annual initiation ceremony and banquet for inductees. The top 20 percent of master's students are eligible for membership invitation each year.
Doctoral Students Management Association (DSMA)
All Ph.D. students of the Graduate School of Management are automatically members of the DSMA. DSMA is a social and professional organization whose purpose is to provide an outlet for the personal growth of Kent's Ph.D. students as well as represent their interests to the College and the University. Activities include a speakers' series, informational seminars, and social events. In addition, representatives from DSMA are elected to the University's Graduate Student Senate and the Graduate School of Management Council. A doctoral student is also a member of the Ph.D. Subcommittee.
Health Services
The Health Center at Kent State University is available for all students and is designed to assist students with physical or emotional health problems. There are orthopedic, gynecology and family planning clinics operating within the facility.
Housing
The Department of Residence Services offers special housing for both single and married graduate students. Cost estimates for the academic year are $2136 for housing and $1530 for board. Campus Bus Service
This service provides complete accessibility throughout the Kent Campus, to nearby residential communities, and to shopping centers. The campus bus system is the largest student-operated campus bus system in the nation.
University Student Center
This spacious plaza houses dining facilities, meeting and conference rooms, recreational areas, a ballroom, the bookstore, and a cinema. Its proximity to the Business Administration Building offers a convenient and comfortable location for many Graduate School of Management functions.
Libraries

Computer Facilities
The Business Administration Building contains over 250 microcomputers which are used extensively for instruction, research, and administration. These computers are connected together via a network of Ethernet hardware and Novell NetWare software. Several gateways connect the college's network to the University network and to international networks. In addition, the University offers as IBM 4381, operating under VM/CMS, that supports graduate and faculty research using SAS, SPSS, BMDP, and TSP; access to OARnet, BITNET, and the Internet is available.
Disabled Student Services
Disabled Student Services provides assistance to students with various disabilities in order to maximize educational opportunity and individual potential. Services include a campus van service; attendant; reader and interpreter referral; preferred registration; test transcription; and wheelchair repair.
