Goodyear Executive Professorship
The Goodyear Executive Professorship was established at Kent State University's College of Business Administration and Graduate School of Management in 1973 by The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. Under the direction of Charles J. Pilliod, then the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, the Goodyear Chair was intended, and continues, to provide a bridge between the academic and business communities.
This is accomplished by bringing an experienced corporate executive (non-academic) to the Kent State campus, as the Goodyear Executive Professor, to instruct students and to participate in and direct University programs designed to enhance the preparedness of future managers and executives through the examination and mastery of "real world" aspects of business.
The Office of the Goodyear Professor plans and coordinates the Charles J. Pilliod Lecture Series. Several times every year since 1983, distinguished speakers address significant business issues and topics of related interest.

The current Goodyear Executive Professor, Rosalind Thompson, joined the Kent faculty in August of 2009. Ms. Thompson was a principal at Orange Hill Associates, Cleveland, Ohio, where she served as a human resources consultant. At Orange Hill Associates, Ms. Thompson formed the human resources consulting arm of the business to provide specialized human resources and training support to a variety of companies. She also served as senior vice president and executive vice president of human resources at Jo-Ann Stores, Inc., of Hudson, Ohio, for 13 years. Ms. Thompson holds a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and psychology from Carroll College in Waukesha, Wis.
