Business Advisory Council Members

Mission Statement

The BAC is composed of business leaders acquainted with the needs of the community as well as the needs of commerce. It is a vital link between the business community and the College, helping it to serve the needs of the community. It keeps the College informed of the community needs. In regular meetings with the Dean, the Business Advisory Council reviews and evaluates the mission, the objectives and the programs of the College. It also assists in identifying ways in which the external community can support the College.


Objectives

  • To comment critically on and help the College develop and accomplish its mission, objectives, and programs.
  • To help the College ensure that its academic programs meet the changing needs of students, business, and society.
  • To assist in recruiting and developing students, faculty, and staff who will contribute significantly to the College and the greater business community it serves.
  • To assist the College in generating co-op experiences, internships and placing graduates in full-time positions.
  • To support College activities such as executive development programs and the Pilliod Lecture Series.
  • To assist the College in the cultivation and solicitation of resources.
  • To regularly interact with students and faculty in providing advice and soliciting suggestions for improvements in all College of Business Administration activities.

Membership

New members are appointed to the Business Advisory Council by the Dean of the College. The initial appointment is for a three-year term, and members can be reappointed by the Dean for an additional three-year term.

Meetings

The Business Advisory Council meets at least twice per year. Members are expected to attend all meetings, consistent with their other obligations. Emeritus Members of the BAC are encouraged, but not expected, to attend BAC meetings.
